A jury trial has been scheduled for a woman accused of murdering a man at a Des Moines hotel earlier this year, according to a court document filed Friday.

Stephanie Renee Moses, 35, of Des Moines is set to have her jury trial start at 9 a.m. on Sept. 22 at the Polk County Courthouse.

Moses has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jerry Victor Brueggeman, 36, of Des Moines.

Police found Brueggeman dead in a room at Royal Motel, 3718 Douglas Ave. in Des Moines. Authorities said Moses had called police to report Brueggeman's death shortly after noon June 1. Detectives later determined Moses' version of events did not match surveillance footage and witness statements, police said.

Moses admitted to manually strangling Brueggeman, her boyfriend, during an interview at the Des Moines police station on June 1, according to a criminal complaint. The complaint said Moses also admitted to committing the crime to her former husband.

Moses is being held at the Polk County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
