The December 2013 issue of Allrecipes magazine, which officials said would increase in circulation from 500,000 to 650,000 in April.

Des Moines-based publishing giant Meredith will boost monthly circulation of Allrecipes magazine to 900,000, about two months shy of its one-year anniversary.

Steven Grune, the magazine's publisher, in a statement called Allrecipes "an integral part of the Meredith Food Group," which includes other food titles like EatingWell and Every Day with Rachael Ray.

"Increasingly marketers are leveraging the combined reach of Allrecipes magazine and Allrecipes.com to create cross-platform oportunities for their brands and we expect these programs to further expand moving forward," he said.

Meredith launched the print version of Allrecipes on Nov. 5 with a circulation of 500,000. Within months, it increased to about 650,000.

That helped earn the magazine, which includes reader-generated recipes, the award for "Hottest Magazine Launch of the Year" last year from MIN, a media industry newsletter.

The magazine's launch generated a ton of buzz, being the first major print launch for the company since More magazine in 1998.

The magazine publishes six times per year. The circulation increase begins with the October/November issue.

Meredith CEO Steve Lacy said magazines like Allrecipes are shielded from the publishing industry's woes because the content doesn't get stale with time.

"The information is more life-stage," he said. "But if you pick it up next week or next month, it is still relevant."
