Start your engines, Des Moines. Iowa's capital city is about to transform itself into the state's largest new automobile showroom. 

Dealerships moved in vehicles Wednesday, March 14, 2018, for the 2018 Des Moines Register All Iowa Auto Show at the Iowa Events Center this weekend. The show is a chance to compare vehicles from foreign and domestic brands side by side—without driving all over town. The 2018 show features more than 200 new cars, trucks and SUV models.

The Des Moines Register All Iowa Auto Show is set to showcase more than three dozen car lines at the Iowa Events Center this weekend, highlighting innovative technologies and notable features used in every vehicle.

From Friday to Sunday, attendees can compare options and styles from the show floor. Vehicles include sports cars, luxury SUVs and energy-efficient models. 

And yes, you can hop in and sit behind every steering wheel of every car, enjoying the comfort and amenities each new make and model provides.

Tickets cost $10 for adults, with children ages 12 and below entering for free. For Friday only, however, first responders, senior citizens, students and veterans pay just $5.

Show hours for the All Iowa Auto Show are:

  • Friday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Additionally, attendees can check out the KCCI Storm Chaser — equipped with an all-weather, 360-degree panning camera, on-board weather tools and live radar reception.

Afraid of heights? You can also test Richie's Virtual Reality Plank Experience, which puts you up 525 feet above ground as you dare to walk to the end. 

After all that excitement, you can take a break in the Nash Lounge, hang out with the Iowa League of Heroes, and purchase car accessories in the KGGO Garage.
