Man dies after he was found unresponsive in a University of Iowa dorm

A man who was found drunk in a University of Iowa dormitory has died, UI officials confirmed Sunday evening. 

University of Iowa Police officers were called to Daum Residence Hall at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday where they found an intoxicated and unresponsive man, UI strategic communication spokeswoman Hayley Bruce said in an email.

University of Iowa Police say officers reached the man about three minutes after police were called. He was then transported to a hospital, where he later died.

The man is not being identified, and officials did not immediately respond to inquiries about whether the man was a student.

Grieving students are encouraged to reach out to University Counseling Services and Student Care and Assistance.

The incident is under investigation.
