Kim Weaver announced plans to run for the Democratic nomination for Congress in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District in 2018 Sunday morning on MSNBC's "AM Joy."

The district, which covers 39 counties in north-central and northwest Iowa, is now served by U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron. It includes Ames, Fort Dodge, Sioux City and Mason City.

Host Joy-Ann Reid played clips of statements from King on topics such as immigration, before posing the question, "Do you plan to challenge Steve King for his seat this cycle?"

Kim Weaver, the Democratic nominee for Iowa's 1st District seat in Congress.

"I do," Weaver responded. "I'm all in. The official paperwork should be landing on the NBC desk tomorrow."

And this won't be Weaver's first rodeo. She challenged King in the 2016 election cycle, but ultimately was defeated by the now-eight-term U.S. representative.

During her 2016 campaign, Weaver, 52, of Sheldon, often criticized King for his controversial comments on minorities, undocumented immigrants and same-sex marriage.
