Like it did its first game against Maryland, Iowa at times played toe-to-toe with a team capable of winning the NCAA Tournament. Unlike that first game, though, Round 2 in College Park quickly became lopsided.

The No. 3 Terrapins outscored the Hawkeyes, 26-6, over the final 6 minutes, 41 seconds of the first half and 22-14 over the final 8:10 for a 100-81 win. Iowa falls to 13-8 (4-4 Big Ten) and Maryland improves to 21-1 (9-0 Big Ten).

Kathleen Doyle scored a career-high 21 points along with five assists, three steals and one turnover. Ally Disterhoft (16), Tania Davis (13), Makenzie Meyer (11) and Megan Gustafson (10) also netted double figures.

Iowa shot 46 percent (29-for-63) overall and 39 percent (9-for-23) from long range. It committed 15 turnovers, compared to Maryland's 19.

The Terrapins' offense just flexed its muscle too much for Iowa. They shot a ridiculous 60 percent (39-for-65) with 26 assists on those 39 buckets.

Brionna Jones scored 28 points on 12 of 13 shooting. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough added 18 and Brianna Fraser had 17. Destiny Slocum finished with an 11-point, 11-assist double-double.
