Iowa man dies pinned under tractor, authorities say

A rural Monroe man died Tuesday after the tractor he was driving rolled over and pinned him, authorities said.

The accident happened about 1:40 p.m. outside a home in the 500 block of Rodeo Avenue in rural Monroe, according to a Jasper County Sheriff's Office news release.

It appeared the man, identified as Darrell Lee Peery, 57, was driving the tractor when it rolled, and he became pinned under the tractor, the sheriff's office said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

Monroe Fire/EMS also responded to the scene.

No further information was released Wednesday, and investigation is ongoing.
