Around Iowa: Tractor incident severely injures woman

A woman suffered severe internal injuries when a tractor backed over her Sunday afternoon in Woodward, the Dallas County sheriff’s office said.

The 31-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was apparently helping move two tractors near a garage in the 400 block of Elm Avenue in Woodward. The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m.

The woman fell down between the two tractors and was run over by the rear tire of one of the tractors, briefly pinning her, officials said.

She was taken to a Des Moines hospital. Authorities described her injuries as severe.

Expect interstate detour for bridge repair

Westbound Interstate Highway 80 will be closed between Iowa Highway 117 near Colfax and Jasper County Road S27 near Mitchellville for the removal of a damaged bridge beam tonight and early Tuesday, officials said.

The closure will begin at 11 p.m. today and end at 4 a.m. Tuesday, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Traffic will be detoured around the work zone, using Iowa 117, Jasper County Road F48, Jasper County Road S27 and Northeast 112th Street.
