KCCI-TV will add more than three hours of news to its daily lineup, according to a station press release.

The half hour-long "KCCI 8 News at 9" will air seven days a week on MeTV, the CBS affiliate's sister channel, and will be anchored by Shaina Humphries, who is currently the station's morning anchor. The show will launch its first newscast on March 21. WHO-HD airs a newscast at 9 p.m. each night on KDSM.

KCCI-TV currently produces more than 30 hours of news content a week, including live newscasts at noon, 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

“KCCI is committed to being Iowa’s News Leader and we want to make our No. 1 coverage as available as possible to our viewers,” KCCI-TV President and General Manager Brian Sather said in a statement. “We know people are looking for news all day long."

MeTV Des Moines can be found free on KCCI 8.2 or on cable channel 108 for Mediacom subscribers. Call your cable provider for more listings.
