A Des Moines woman faces a 50-year prison sentence after a jury convicted her of second-degree murder for her role in a fatal stabbing last year.

Miranda Rose Petithory Metcalf, 22, was convicted in the death of Juan Carlos Chavarria, 28, on Monday after a week-long trial, according to online court records. Police found Chavarria in an apartment in the 200 block of Dickman Road around 5 a.m. on Nov. 29 and he was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Chavarria suffered from stab wounds to his torso. Police said Petithory Metcalf, Chavarria and several other people were in the apartment and that the stabbing happened when an argument broke out at a party.

Petithory Metcalf will be sentenced on Sept. 5, according to online court records.
