Hungry for politics? Try Trumpburger or 'Bernie's Yearning' ice cream

Just in case the political campaigns haven't yet overwhelmed ALL of your senses, you can now taste your politics, too.

Winterset’s iconic Northside Cafe is now serving a Trumpburger, “for the man who likes to ham it up for the cameras,” according to the menu.

It's a half-pound of ham piled on a "no-nonsense, all-beef, all-American monument third-pound burger," the menu notes. "We’ve added shredded cheese as Trump continues to shred the competition in the polls [and] grilled onions for all the tears from political pundits who can’t figure Trump out.”

The $14.99 behemoth named for New York billionaire Donald Trump is the most expensive item at the cafe where Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep ate in “The Bridges of Madison County.” But c’mon, what did you expect?

“Like Trump, this burger is on a mission,” according to the menu. “We’re making the hamburger great again.”

And if you still have an appetite, maybe you’d like to top it off with a rare scoop of “Bernie’s Yearning” from Ben & Jerry’s. The Vermont company’s co-founder, Ben Cohen, unveiled the limited-edition ice cream flavor Monday afternoon on his Facebook and Twitter pages as a way to honor candidate Bernie Sanders, the senator from Vermont.

Cohen said the company made just 40 pints, 25 of which were donated to the Sanders campaign. Fans can enter a contest to win the remaining pints, which Cohen will autograph himself.

According to the carton, “The entire top of this pint is covered with a thick disc of solid chocolate. Underneath is plain mint ice cream. The chocolate disc represents the huge majority of economic gains that have gone to the top 1 percent since the end of the recession. Beneath it, the rest of us."

There are also eating instructions:

"1. Take back of spoon and whack huge chocolate disc into lots of pieces. 2. Let the ice cream soften up a bit, mix the pieces around — and there you have it, Bernie's Yearning. 3. Dig in, and share it with your fellow Americans!"

The top of the carton reads: "Open Joyfully. Political revolution inside."
