Polaris Industries, which manufactures motorcycles and ATVs, is planning to expand its employee-based operations in Milford by 150 jobs.

A request from the Medina, Minn.-based company for state money will come before the Iowa Economic Development Authority Board Friday, joining requests from eight other companies, including John Deere.

The company is seeking the incentives to help finance a production line change at its Milford warehouse, where Polaris has 460,400 square feet, a spokeswoman said. The new production lines will manufacture Polaris' ACE off-road vehicle -- a single-seat vehicle similar to an ATV, but with a steering wheel instead of handlebars.

Polaris' expansion is expected to cost $10 million and the company is seeking a $300,000 forgivable loan from the authority, according to state documents.

Between its locations in Milford and Spirit Lake, Polaris currently has more than 760,000 square feet of space and about 700 employees.

The company's Spirit Lake factory is used to produce Polaris' Victory and Indian motorcycles, among other vehicles.
