Carroll bicyclist killed after being struck by vehicle

Iowa State Patrol responded to an accident on Friday in Carroll County that left a woman dead.

Joleen Marie Stork, 60, of Glidden was mountain biking on county road E-26, east of Sycamore Avenue, when a 2005 Chevy Silverado drove up behind her and, not seeing her, struck the bicycle, a report by the Iowa State Patrol states.

Stork was thrown into the north ditch and pronounced dead at the scene by the Carroll County Coroner, the report states.

Sgt. Nathan Ludwig with the Iowa State Patrol said the bike and vehicle were both travelling west toward a setting sun.

"This looks like an accident," Ludwig said.

The accident occurred around 6:45 p.m. It is still under investigation.
