That frisky Decorah eagle pair has done it again.

Mother bald eagle laid her third egg atop a snowy nest at 6:57 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the Raptor Resource Project which maintains cameras on the pair's nests.

This follows the pair's tradition of laying three eggs, as they have for several years, the Project's alert said.

Bob Anderson, who maintains the Decorah Eagle Cam, said Thursday that eagles copulate several times a day and each egg takes about 35 days of incubation to hatch.

The couple's second egg arrived Feb. 21 at 7:01 p.m. Their first egg arrived Feb. 18 at 6:07 p.m.

The parents can only leave the eggs uncovered for a few moments especially in subzero temperatures, Anderson has said.

The Eagle Cam has existed for five years. The two nests the eagles constructed have cradled 20 chicks over the years.
